Over the last three seasons, the Northstars have conducted their practices every morning on non-game days at 5:30 a.m. The move to an early morning slot was strictly financial. The rink in Cicero gives the Northstars a 20 percent discount for ice rental. Over the course of a season, the discount is substantial to the team budget.
